Why I'm Running
"As a life long resident of Eden Prairie, I am at a point in my life where I can
give back to a school system and community that provided so much to me!
I am proud of Eden Prairie Schools and would actively work towards
Inspiring Each Student Every Day." -Terri Swartout
To ensure that clear, transparent communication is a top priority as we implement our strategic plan. I hope to be a sounding board for students, staff, parents, and community members on concerns as we navigate forward. Maintaining trust throughout this process is vital and I’m committed to listening and hearing ALL voices!
To ensure a top notch equitable education is provided to ALL students! We need to continue to forge partnerships and outside of the box thinking in addressing and closing the achievement gap within our state and community. Eden Prairie has impressive graduation rates, test scores but we need to make sure that we are purposefully meeting the needs of ALL students.
Linking Health and Learning!
Fostering health and well-being for all students and staff within Eden Prairie Schools will create a healthier community for ALL. There is strong evidence that healthier students learn better, just as having a healthy employee base leads to higher job satisfaction, better productivity, and reduces staff turn over. Quality education leads to higher incomes, better jobs but also longer, healthier lives. Incorporating a whole child approach in decisions keeps young people at the center, allowing them to be healthy, safe, challenged, engaged, and supported.
Youth Voice & Choice!
To ensure that ALL students have choice throughout their educational careers. One of the areas that needs more opportunities for young people to voice their opinions on educational choice is in middle school. We need to allow children to personalize their education and have some choice during this developmental stage as these key years are formative in setting the stage for successful high school years.
